Laodicea was a prosperous city and church. However, it was described as the lukewarm Church—materially blessed but spiritually poor and lacking in fellowship with Christ. Jesus stood on the outside, calling them to repentance and letting them (believers) know He wanted to be received so He could have fellowship with them.
